Heading and Header

Once you have attended to the formatting of your paper in MLA, let us take a moment to distinguish between what we meant when we say Heading and Header.

This is where you put your namename of the classinstructors name, and date of submission. This should be located in the top left hand corner of the paperimmediately where the cursor is when you open the document.

Now, if you have properly set up your paper’s format then your heading should appear like this one here with double spacing between lines.

The header is different from your Heading. It is where you will place your LAST NAME and PAGE Number in the header and those will appear on every page.

Make sure you select for your page number to appear in the RIGHT HAND corner of your page:

Once you have placed your page number, select the RIGHT HAND alignment for your font and type your LAST NAME in front of the page number.
