  • Set up and discuss Group Work
  • Begin process of selecting your graphic novel

WEEK 3

Jan. 22 – 26

  • Assign Report 1 and Discuss in Class
  • Spring Convocation (Jan. 25)
  • Class Presentation on They Say Ch. 1
  • Look at McCloud, Chapters 5-9

Graphic Novel Selection made by Jan. 26 and selection choice posted to Moodle by Monday, Jan. 29


WEEK 4

Jan. 29 – Feb. 2

  • Look into Topics, Thesis Questions, and Thesis Statements.
  • Provide example and discuss process, practice process.
  • Assign Report 2 and Discuss in Class
  • Class Presentation on They Say Ch. 2 and 3
  • Discuss Summary and Analysis process, apply to Research Paper
  • Look at research process.

WEEK 5

Feb. 5 – 9

  • Talk about outlines and value to research process
  • Assign Report 3 and Discuss in Class
  • Talk about sources and where you should be conducting research
  • Develop a research plan and timeline
  • Class Presentation on They Say Ch. 4
  • Begin finalizing Thesis Question and Statement for Friday
  • Talk about Report 2 expectations

WEEK 9

  • Begin process of Writing Workshop 2: Argument Section of Essay
  • Review how Writing Workshop process should work
  • Dig into how you should outline and pursue the construction of your argument
  • Class Presentation on They Say Ch. 8 and 9
  • Discuss Research principles and changes
  • Look at MLA Formatting some more
